I’m Deevala (Duh-Vay-La), a multi-passionate wellness mentor, media and youth pastor, adoptive mama, and fierce advocate for hormone healing and hope. But more than titles, I’m a woman who’s walked through fire and lived to tell the story.
Each Monday, when we have the opportunity to minister alongside other women from our church to the ladies in our county jail, we get to lean into powerful, real, raw, and ugly conversations. This week, we talked about what it means to have a ‘burning bush moment,’ and one of the ladies admitted she feels like she is waiting for one. She sees the blessings around her, but she is waiting for THAT moment.
A “burning bush moment” is a way many people describe an encounter with God that feels unmistakably personal, holy, and divinely timed. Exodus 3, when Moses saw the bush that was on fire but not consumed, an ordinary thing transformed into a supernatural sign that changed his life forever.
It often happens when you aren’t searching for a sign, but God meets you right where you are. It feels like God is speaking directly to you… to your heart, your season, or your prayer. & it shifts your perspective, fills you with peace, joy, or direction, and you walk away knowing you’ve been touched by something holy.
You see… this same day I had gotten medical news that I had been dreading. I have cysts inside my uterus and “evidence” of endometriosis that needs to be removed surgically. It’s in these moments that I question God.
“Why couldn’t this have been found sooner?”
“Is this really the problem?”
“What if it’s cancer?”
And before you come at saying I shouldn’t question as a follower of Jesus, remind me of ONE person who didn’t question? Who didn’t fail God? Who didn’t wrestle? It is OKAY to question. The important thing is… who are you taking your questions to? Are you going to focus on them and let them eat you alive or are you going to give them to God and just TRUST Him through it?
Any who, it’s in these moments or prayer and uncertainty that I want to call my brother. He just always knew what to say to cheer me up or remind me that everything was going to be okay.
We went into the jail. And each time I am there, questions arise where I am able to talk about my heart, my questions, my brother. It hurts, but I know God is using my test as a testimony of hope for others.
I walked outside & this rainbow was my burning bush. Unexpected. Undeniable. Precious. Personal. & just for me. “I am with you and will watch over you wherever you go, and I will bring you back to this land. I will not leave you until I have done what I have promised you.” Genesis 28:15
If you feel like you’re in the season of waiting, wondering, or even questioning… I pray God meets you where you’re at & you receive your own burning bush moment.
Hi friend! I’m so glad you’re here. I’m Deevala (Duh‑Vay‑La). I am a multi‑passionate wife, wellness mentor, certified health and fitness coach, media and youth pastor, and a fierce advocate for Jesus, fitness, grief, healing, and hope. I am also an adoptive mama because of God’s plan and foster care.
More than titles, I am a woman who has walked through fire and lived to tell the story.
My Story
After years of unexplained miscarriages, ten gut‑wrenching losses, trauma, and health challenges, I was told I might never carry a child. I learned I have MTHFR and an autoimmune condition. & then I lost my brother in 2025. The path to healing is not easy some times. BUT it is possible. I believe that fully because God is leading.
God led me toward a more natural, non‑toxic approach to wellness that aligns with His design for our bodies and stewarding our temples well. I am human and still learning, but I am committed to paying forward what I learn… one simple swap, one prayer, one deep breath, or one workout at a time.
My healing journey brought me into a community of women on the same road and into a calling to speak hope. I want to invite you into that community, too.
Why “Breathe Wellness”
Genesis 2:7 Then the Lord God formed a man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life. God’s breath gave you life. You are not a mistake or broken. You were breathed into by the living God.
Ezekiel 37:5‑6 I will make breath enter you and you will come to life. Even when you feel dry and empty, He can breathe life into your bones.
I am nothing without His breath in me. On the day my brother was diagnosed with stage 4 heart failure, I met grief face to face. He was my person. I remember the fear in his voice as we cried together. For the first time in my life I had to remind myself to breathe. Later that week I cooked him dinner at his house and saw his little stove‑top sign that read “just breathe.” I knew this season would try to take me out. I also knew my focus had to remain on the breath of God in my lungs.
Three years later came the phone call I never wanted. Loss took my breath again. Life felt divided into before and after. When you lose your closest human — your bodyguard, best friend, hero, and first peace on earth — everything changes. You change. I am learning to live in the after with Jesus first, choosing to rise, break generational curses, and bring others with me. Which led me to get CERTIFIED to be an health and fitness coach! My brother was the reason for my LOVE for fitness(check out an older blog of mine: https://breathewellnessco.com/2025/09/04/breathing-through-grief/ for more on that! SO HERE I AM, serving!!

A Final Word From My Heart
You are not behind. You are breathing. That is your starting line. Together we will rebuild with simple steps and steady grace. One breath. One choice. One day at a time.
This past week I traveled to Chicago for a work conference. It was busy, full of new faces, long sessions, and the kind of energy that a big city always carries. From the outside, it was just another trip. But for me, travel always carries something deeper now, it brings both the ache of loss and small glimpses of peace.
I sat there on the plane and cried. Not the loud, uncontrollable kind of crying, but the quiet tears that slip down when memories and reality collide. And an overwhelming feeling that has no where to go but down my cheeks. Every single day there is something that reminds me of the realness of your absence. Yet, somehow, it still doesn’t feel real.
On that plane, I realized I couldn’t text you the little updates I used to share or ask you if you were the one in the jet airplane beside us, flight delays, city lights, or the funny things that always seemed to happen when I traveled. That stung in the deepest way. The small moments, the things people wouldn’t even think twice about, are the ones that hit the hardest.
But in the middle of my uncontrollable tears, I also felt peace. Being in the clouds, high above the ground, I felt just a little bit closer to you. Almost like I could stretch my hand out and reach the thin place between here and eternity.
I found myself imagining heaven with a jet airplane, your name painted right on the side. I could almost see you and your ear to ear grin… free, full of life, taking flight in a way you never could here on earth. That thought gave me a strange comfort.
Grief is like that… woven with both pain and peace, tears and hope. Two opposite feelings can co-exist and I realize that more and more each day. I miss you in all the big and small moments, bubby. But I also know you’re not really gone. You’ve just gone ahead.
So, from the skies above Chicago back to my quiet moments here at home, I carry you with me. Always. I love you to the moon and back, Christopher.
Something that brings me peace? Jesus walked this earth as the ONLY perfect person yet He was still hated. So, you know what…
They might hate you.
They might hate you when you stand up for yourself.
They might hate you when you speak up.
They might hate you for stepping back.
Even if you do it graciously.
Even if you do it kindly.
Even if you do it with love.
But friend, let them.
Because at the end of the day, you answer to God, not to people. He knows your heart. He knows the truth. And His opinion is the only one that lasts.
When you stand before God on judgement day… none of their opinions or actions will be there to save you or hold you back, so walk tall. Walk in peace. Walk in His plan.
Don’t waste energy trying to prove yourself. Release it. Let it go. Rest in Him.
In the end, you won’t regret standing firm, protecting your heart or your peace, and walking in integrity. You won’t regret choosing obedience over approval.
Their opinions can change with the wind. God’s truth never will.
“What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?” Romans 8:31
So breathe deep. Let their opinions fall away. And remember you are fully seen, fully loved, and fully held by the One whose voice matters most.
It’s been a while since I’ve shared here. The truth is, in June, my world shifted when I lost my brother.
I’ll be honest… I never understood deep breath taking grief until I lost him. I believe in Jesus. I believe wholeheartedly that my brother is in Heaven. But even with that faith and hope, I’ve still felt more lost, more sad, and more raw than I ever thought possible. For weeks, every time I woke up and realized it wasn’t a nightmare but reality, I broke down all over again. For months now, most days have felt like I’m about to puke and cry at the same time.
Grief is heavy. It’s messy. It lingers in places you don’t expect. And yet every single day, I’ve had to make the choice to reach for gratitude, to fight for joy. “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” Psalm 34:18 I am thankful for the way the Lord has stayed close to me and in so many ways, it’s like I can feel the closeness of my brother, too.
Fitness has carried me through grief before, and I know my brother would be proud to see me rising again… choosing healing, choosing health, choosing life.
My Brother’s Influence
My brother, Christopher, and I were 14 years apart. I was his pride and joy. His “baby Vala.” I never knew a life without a protector. I was always equally obsessed with him. He taught me so many things to do, yet taught me so many things not to do. He is a huge part of my testimony to Jesus. I pray for his salvation as we got older and addiction overtook him. I prayed and believed for him every single day. Finally, I had my brother back. The brother I knew. The brother that chased the heart of Jesus. He came to live with us in 2018. He was the one who first pushed Caleb, my husband, and I into health and fitness. When he came to live with us, he was in the best shape of his life. He made us do prison cross-fit style workouts in the garage, and as much as we groaned, he whipped us into shape.
But as life got busy, his workouts became fewer and farther between. Sugar took the place of discipline. And slowly, his health began to unravel.
Just seven short years later, that same brother, my first best friend, my person, passed away from stage 4 heart failure. The brother I felt like I lost over and over again to addiction, I lost for good when he was at his best spiritually yet his worst physically. How? Shattered me…
Watching his health unfold before my eyes changed me. It broke me to care for him. It broke me to put his socks on his feet just because he was so out of breath to do it himself. It broke me to sit with him while he cried over the pain and shared how tired he was. He was only 40 years old. I can’t follow the same path. And while food has been my vice too, I know I have to choose differently now.
A New Kind of Healing
In the stillness of grief, I realized I didn’t need more noise. I needed healing. I needed support. I needed to take care of myself differently.
I used to be a health and fitness coach with Beachbody, and I loved helping women feel encouraged, connected, and see results. After losing my brother, I knew I needed that kind of community and accountability again, one that could hold me up as I rebuilt strength from the inside out.
For me, that began years ago with movement as worship, during my seasons of miscarriage and questions and it had to continue but at a BETTER level. I can’t allow life and grief to shove me to the back burner. I felt a FIRE BURNING passion for fitness again. Maybe it was just to release the rage of grief or maybe it was just so I could blare my worship music and allow God to meet me during my workout. Either way, I couldn’t avoid the nudges.
That meant leaning in. Asking for help. Choosing to not isolate but to step into support again.
And in that process, God has reminded me of His promise: “to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair.” Isaiah 61:3
And the encouragement of… “No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it.” Hebrews 12:11
So now what? I became a CERTIFIED HEALTH & FITNESS COACH!! Why? Because when I help others, it helps me find purpose in the pain. Month to month I run coaching rounds with ladies where we walk through how to build that foundation of health and fitness. Where to start, the science behind paired workouts and nutrition, encouragement, and more.
One of the tools that has been helping me in this season is natural, bioactive peptides. They’ve helped me quiet the food noise, rebuild strength, and support my body through the heaviness. I’ve felt lighter not just on the scale, but in my spirit.
→ Target visceral fat (the stubborn stuff) → Support lean muscle growth & repair → Boost metabolism without overstimulation → Increase energy naturally (no crash, no bloat) → Curb cravings + quiet the food noise (NEEDED, cue emotional eating) → Help regulate blood sugar → Support hormone balance + reduce inflammation → Encourage better body composition (more tone, less fluff) → Promote sustainable fat loss (not a quick-fix rebound)
I know healing isn’t meant to be walked alone, which is why I started the Make Wellness Besties group. It’s an ongoing space for women to step into support, accountability, and encouragement at any point in their journey whether it’s day one or day one hundred.
Here’s what is inside: ✨ Ongoing encouragement and prayer ✨ A safe place to share your journey without judgment ✨ Meal plans, movement ideas, and check-ins to stay consistent ✨ Optional early morning accountability thread for those who want that extra push ✨ Real stories, honest encouragement, and a sisterhood to grow with
The best part? You’re never alone. And I would love to add you to that space. Send me an email!
I Pray to Encourage YOU
If you’re walking through grief or just feel stuck… I see you. You’re not alone.
There’s no pressure to be perfect. Just a quiet invitation to begin again, to rebuild, to find a new normal.
If you’re ready to take a step toward your own healing, whether it’s through movement, community, or even trying these peptides, I’d love to walk that journey with you.
I’m giving it my best shot. And I know you can too. Because “those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not faint.” Isaiah 40:31
Send me an email any time, friend!
I look forward to continuing to update you along the way!
I’ll never forget the day the doctor told me, “You have a genetic mutation called MTHFR.” I blinked. What even is that? And why did it matter?
At that point, I had already walked through the heartbreak of multiple miscarriages… 10, to be exact. Also, can we all agree that the word “miscarriage” sucks? It makes me feel shame and disappointment towards my body. Anywho, I had experienced more grief and confusion than I ever thought possible. My body felt broken. My faith was stretched. And the answers were few and far between.
But that moment, that diagnosis, was a turning point.
MTHFR is a genetic mutation that affects how your body processes folate and detoxifies. And while it’s common (affecting up to 60% of people), it’s rarely talked about. Most women are handed a prenatal with folic acid and sent on their way. But for those with MTHFR, folic acid can actually cause more harm than good. It builds up in the body and blocks proper nutrient absorption, leading to inflammation, hormone disruption, and in my case… repeated loss.
Once I learned what MTHFR was and how it impacted my hormones, pregnancy, and overall health, I started to dig deeper. I realized that my body was not failing me… it was fighting to survive in a world full of toxins, stress, and synthetic ingredients it couldn’t process.
So I began to make changes: – I swapped toxic products for hormone-safe ones – I changed how I ate and supplemented – I began to intentionally rest, detox, and surrender this journey to God
And most of all… I stopped trying to fix myself and started learning how to support my body the way God designed it to function.
That’s when everything changed.
Now, I help other women navigate the same journey with grace, with truth, and with practical tools that make a difference.
If you’ve ever struggled with:
Miscarriage or infertility
Unexplained symptoms like fatigue, anxiety, or brain fog
Hormonal imbalances that no one seems to understand
Or just a deep sense that something’s off…
…you’re not alone. And you don’t have to figure it out by yourself.
I put together a free MTHFR Protocol Guide with the exact steps I took to begin healing, physically, emotionally, and spiritually. It includes information I wish I would have known sooner, supplement tips, toxin-free swaps, faith-based encouragement, and more.
In 2024, after experiencing 10 miscarriages and walking through more grief than I thought my heart could carry, I found myself stuck in a cycle of searching for answers and hearing the same thing over and over:
“You’re fine.” “We can’t help you.” “It’s just bad luck.”
But deep down, I knew something wasn’t right. I didn’t feel fine and I knew I couldn’t be the only one silently struggling.
So I did what so many women are finally learning to do: I advocated for myself. I started researching. I tried products that were recommended by trusted voices. And for the first time in a long time… I felt better.
More energy. Less fog. Clearer skin. Balanced moods. It wasn’t magic it was supporting my hormones naturally.
That’s when I fell in love with Hugh & Grace, a company built on integrity, education, and hormone-safe products created by a couple who had walked through their own infertility struggles. I felt seen. I felt supported. I felt like this was an answer to the prayers I had been praying through tears and trauma.
I decided I didn’t just want to heal. I wanted to help.
So I turned my mess into a mission: To help women like YOU feel seen, heard, and not alone.
Because you are not crazy. You are not helpless. You just need the right support and someone to remind you of your worth along the way.
Hormone health still isn’t talked about enough. But I believe we’re the generation to change that.
Whether you’re looking for relief, results, or a new revenue stream that actually aligns with your heart—I want you to know:
👉🏼There are so many ways to earn and succeed here. 👉🏼 This is a sisterhood. 👉🏼 You don’t have to do it alone.
I’m here to walk with you, cheer you on, and help you grow—from hormone health to financial freedom.
If there’s one thing I’ve learned on my journey through healing, grief, and hormone imbalance, especially with MTHFR And auto-immune, it’s this: small, intentional daily habits truly do make a big difference.
Whether you’re navigating infertility, autoimmune issues, or you just feel “off” in your body, I want you to know you’re not alone. And there is hope. Your body was designed to heal.
Here are the simple, daily detox habits I personally use to support my hormones naturally and stay grounded in faith, even on the hard days:
1. Starting My Day with Scripture, Journaling, and Deep Breathing
Before I reach for anything else, I reach for God’s Word.
I spend a few quiet moments reading Scripture because it centers me in truth before the noise of the world rushes in. I often write out a verse in my journal, followed by a short prayer or anything on my heart. I also love to write my goals and gratitudes. It’s how I exhale anxiety and inhale peace.
Sometimes I just breathe. I place my hand over my heart, close my eyes, and invite His presence into my day. This simple act reminds me that healing isn’t just physical. It’s emotional and spiritual too. AND this will help reduce your high cortisol and get you and your body out of fight or flight mode.
2. Hydrate + Detox (First Thing!)
Next up, I drink a full glass of Hydrate + Detox first thing in the morning.
Why? Because overnight, our body does deep internal work. Toxins are released while we sleep, and it’s crucial to flush them out right away.
Electrolytes (magnesium, potassium, sodium citrate, sea salt) help hydrate at the cellular level
Ginger root supports digestion and calms inflammation
Probiotics nourish the gut and support immune function
L-Glutathione is a powerful antioxidant that helps the liver detox, which is especially important if you have MTHFR
This one simple drink makes a big difference in how I feel. More energy. Less bloat. Clearer mind.
3. Marine Collagen Peptides
Marine Collagen is another daily essential. I mix it into tea, smoothies, or even with my Hydrate + Detox. It’s pure, sustainably sourced collagen from wild-caught fish with no hormones or fillers.
Collagen is a building block for skin, hair, joints, and gut health, all of which are impacted by hormone health. With MTHFR, our connective tissues can become weaker over time. Since staying consistent, I’ve noticed stronger nails, less joint pain, and brighter skin.
4. Morning Supplement
This powerhouse blend includes:
Curcumin C3 Complex to reduce inflammation
Milk Thistle and Cranberry Extract to support liver and kidney detox
Vitamin D3 to support hormones, mood, and immune health
Ginger and BioPerine for digestion and nutrient absorption
CoQ10 to support energy production, especially helpful if you have MTHFR
I take it after breakfast to nourish my body and keep my hormones supported from the inside out.
5. Triple Boost Protein + Hormone Support
This is my favorite way to fuel my body and support hormones through food.
Icelandic blue spirulina for detox and brain health
Pumpkin seed and pea protein for hormone balance
Oat milk powder, sea salt, and monk fruit for a clean, satisfying taste
No soy, no dairy, no hormone disruptors
I blend this into a smoothie and feel the difference in my energy, blood sugar stability, and mood.
Why This Matters for MTHFR
If you have MTHFR like I do, your detox pathways need extra support. Our bodies don’t process toxins the same way. We may struggle with estrogen dominance, sluggish liver function, or chronic inflammation.
That’s why daily detox isn’t just a “trend.” It’s part of our healing. These habits aren’t about perfection. They’re about consistency. It’s a way of telling your body: I’m here for you. I’m listening. Let’s heal together.
Final Thoughts
You don’t need to overhaul your life overnight. Start with one habit. One verse. One intentional step.
Your hormones will thank you. Your energy will return. And most importantly, you’ll remember that you are deeply loved and supported by the One who designed your body to heal and thrive.
If you’re ready to try the products I use daily, I offer 5-day sample packs and a community called Wellness Besties where we grow together in grace.

Hi friend! I am Deevala Miles(Duh-Vay-La). And I am SO glad you are here reading this. a multi-passionate wellness mentor, media and youth pastor, adoptive mama, and fierce advocate for hormone healing and hope.
But more than titles, I’m a woman who’s walked through fire and lived to tell the story.
Welcome to Breathe Wellness – where healing begins with a holy pause. I didn’t know how tightly I was holding my breath until my body started to break.
After years of trauma, loss, miscarriage, and unanswered questions… I found myself sitting in a doctor’s office, hearing words that sounded like a warning: “You’re living in survival mode. Your body is holding onto everything — grief, stress, trauma — and it’s starting to shut down.”
I thought I was strong. I thought I had moved on. But the truth? I hadn’t been breathing.
That same week, my brother was diagnosed with stage 4 heart failure. I remember sitting in a hospital chair, frozen, overwhelmed, unable to move — until something shifted.
I took the deepest breath I had taken in months. And as I exhaled, I whispered: “Lord, I breathe in Your peace.”
That moment changed everything.
Truth is… I am NOTHING without HIS living breath inside of me.
Genesis 2:7 (NIV) – “Then the Lord God formed a man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being.” → God’s breath is what gave us life. You’re not just a mistake or broken—you were breathed into by the living God.
Ezekiel 37:5-6 (NIV) – “This is what the Sovereign Lord says to these bones: I will make breath enter you, and you will come to life… Then you will know that I am the Lord.” → Even when you feel dead inside—emotionally, spiritually—He can breathe life into your dry bones.
Welcome to Breathe Wellness.
This space was born from that moment — the inhale of surrender and the exhale of restoration. It’s not just about air. It’s about healing, wholeness, hormone health, and holy rhythms. It’s about helping other women who are stuck in survival mode find peace, detox their bodies and hearts, and walk in purpose.
Whether you’re here because you’ve battled infertility, felt lost in postpartum, faced health challenges like MTHFR or autoimmune struggles, or you’re just exhausted from carrying so much — I see you. I’ve been you.
And I want you to know: You are not alone. You are not too far gone. And you don’t have to keep holding your breath waiting for your life to begin.
Here’s what you can expect here at Breathe Wellness:
Real talk about hormone health and healing holistically (not perfectly)
Faith-based encouragement for your hardest days
Simple swaps that can change everything
Stories of redemption from foster care to motherhood
Hope for the woman who feels broken, bitter, or burnt out
So friend, take a breath. A real one. The kind that reminds your nervous system it’s safe. The kind that reminds your soul God is still good. The kind that invites you to begin again.
I’m so glad you’re here. Let’s walk this road to wholeness together.
With grace, love, & support, Deevala Founder, Breathe Wellness Co.
